The Hugo finalists have been announced and, unsurprisingly probably, there seems to be a fair amount of messiness and yuck. The whole thing is too big and too complex for me have worked through with any coherence yet, but over at Black Gate, Matthew David Surridge has a very smart and very thorough response to some of the key arguments put forward by folks in the Puppies campaign. Go read that, because it’s better than anything I could write.
There are things here to talk about–important things like what awards are good for and what books are good for, but I just don’t have the energy or head space to work through it at the moment. Soon though.
